Block printing is the age-old traditional craft of printing using engraved wooden blocks, which involves various steps from carving of wood, preparing fabric, dyes, printing, and final touches. Each of these techniques require artistry, skill, and patience.
We will have a short introduction about Block printing, its history, origin, and steps involved. and learn block printing techniques in an easy way. Participants will get to practice printing techniques using traditional handmade blocks and pigment dyes on paper and fabric and at the end create their own unique tote bag to take away.

Saman Ahmad is a Textile Designer from New Delhi. A graduate from The National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India (2016). She studied Textile and Texture short term semester at École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Paris (2014) She works independently as a freelance designer and has done various creative textile workshops like block printing, tie and dye with MUJI, Ritu Kumar, Fabindia etc.
